The latest chapter in the story of Universe Ticket winners UNIS brought the Korean, Japanese, and Filipino K-pop group back to Japan in September to share their new single with fans. Released in August, the single "Curious" marked the first new music from UNIS since the release of their debut mini album in March, after the eight-member group was formed during South Korean television survival show Universe Ticket.

Connecting with Devoted Japanese Fans

UNIS made two visits to Japan in September, showcasing their talent and connecting with their devoted Japanese fan base. During a flying visit early in the month, the girls touched down in Tokyo for two release events, performing the new single in front of a total of around 300 lucky fans at a record store in the capital's Shibuya district."We think Japan is such a fun place. The first time we came here we didn't expect so much love. Our Japanese fan base is super precious," Gehlee Dangca, one the group's two Filipino members, told Kyodo News Plus ahead of the event.

Diverse Talents and Adaptability

The group's name can be interpreted as "U&I Story," reflecting the desire of its members to continue writing a story which began during the Universe Ticket show. "I think the strength of UNIS lies in its diversity and its ability to adapt to all concepts," group leader Jin Hyeonju said.Around 18 million K-pop fans voted for the singing and dancing talent that would become UNIS during Universe Ticket, when the show was aired by South Korean broadcaster SBS between last November and January. The diverse group, comprising members from Korea, Japan, and the Philippines, has captivated audiences with their versatility and unique blend of cultures.
