Ron Perlman Joins Horror Thriller 'Seasons' for Amazon MGM Studios

Ron Perlman has joined the cast of the upcoming horror-thriller, Seasons, an Amazon MGM Studios production helmed by director Drew Hancock, known for his work on Companion.

The acclaimed actor, also set to appear in FX's new limited series spin-off of Sons of Anarchy, will share the screen with Lily James and Jack Reynor. Production for the film is slated to commence in Ireland this September. Hancock penned the screenplay, which draws inspiration from Matt and Harrison Query’s book, itself an adaptation of Matt Query’s original short story first published on Reddit. The narrative unfolds around a married couple who acquire what they believe to be their ideal ranch, only to unearth that the property is animated by ancient entities. Their continued existence hinges on their compliance with increasingly unsettling seasonal rituals.

Reynor takes on the role of the husband, while James portrays the wife. Perlman will embody a neighboring character who possesses knowledge about these mystical traditions. The production team includes Shawn Levy and Dan Levine from 21 Laps, Jason Blum and Michael Clear representing Blumhouse Atomic Monster, and Scott Glassgold from 12:01 Films. Dan Cohen, previously with 21 Laps, is also attached as a producer. Judson Scott serves as an executive producer for Blumhouse Atomic Monster, with Alayna Glasthal overseeing the project for the company. Perlman's recent endeavors include a role opposite Javier Bardem and Amy Adams in the Apple TV+ limited series Cape Fear. Furthermore, he is expected to reprise a version of his iconic Hellboy character in FX and Hulu’s meta-series, Legends, scheduled to film next year. Perlman is currently represented by Independent Artist Group and Link Entertainment.

This new venture promises to deliver a compelling cinematic experience, blending elements of supernatural horror with a unique narrative structure. The film's exploration of ancient beliefs and the human struggle for survival against unseen forces highlights a universal theme of adaptation and resilience. Audiences can look forward to a thought-provoking story that delves into the deeper meanings of tradition and the unknown.
